Following the triumph of Dior's first collection in 1947, the world press eagerly anticipated each new collection speculating what Dior would present next. Anchored by the curves of the female figure, Christian Dior's designs played with structure and proportions to create clothes that were powerful for wearer and expressed his attitude.

He considered the female silhouette in all designs as well as the movement, each garment showed careful construction and elaborate workmanship. From the launch to his death ten years later, Christian Dior designed 22 collections each one including 150 looks.

Dior is about femininity Maria Grazia Chiuri is speaking for women now and in the future. Luxury is about craftsmanship and quality, preserving the old whilst reinventing it for the new, fashion re-defines itself. Maria Grazia Chiuri's Dior is about desirability through moral messaging its about creating collections people want to wear everyday not because its expensive but more because they desire it. Fashion can be about feminism - women need to feel confident in the everyday, not just in the special moments. Maria Grazia Chiuri was so inspired by Christian Dior for his ability to turn The House into a fashion power source in a post war climate.

Maria Grazia Chiuri: “Women Supporting Each Other Is The Future”.
